Author's POV:
A warmth ran through Noor's body as she entered Siddharth's cabin. A few books and some files were hugging her petite body. Her hair was like silky curtains covering her face.
He watched her coming closer, his eyes lingering on her a little more than needed. He was startled as she snapped the books onto his desk.
He was standing at his desk and, at that snapping sound, his foot twisted and he stumbled to the floor.
Giving an awkward chuckle, he stood up again to compose himself.
“We should start the project. We have only one week for it.” She stated, her eyes pointedly on him.
“Yeahh, yeahh…..please sit.” He stammered due to the sudden snapping.
“So, are we starting with the detailed research on Human-Animal Interaction?” she asked, looking into her file.
“We could find the key points first to make it easier while writing our research.”
“Sounds nice.” Saying this, she dived into a book to find potential information related to the topic.
They were both focused on their work. But the thing which was disturbing Siddharth today was Noor's small black bindi. It was a distraction for him today. He was gazing at her face a little longer until it was broken by the snap of her fingers.
“We have to find all the points by today. Hurry up.” Saying this, she shook her head in disapproval and dived back into her book.
After finishing their first step, they decided to take a break.
Reaching the nearest tea stall outside their hospital, they sat on a wooden bench.
“Bhaiya, do chai dena.” Siddharth said to the tea vendor.
Both of them didn’t say a word while waiting for their order. The awkward silence engulfed them.
“You are from this city only?” he asked to break the ice between them.
“Yeah, I am from Sector 7. What about you?” She asked to stay engaged in the conversation.
“I am from the city’s elite side.”
“Any specific reason to join this hospital?”
“It is the best in the city in terms of practicing in government hospitals. This reason is enough, I guess.”
Agreeing with his words, she nodded her head.
As their conversation went on, their tea was served to them. Sipping their hot cups of tea, they enjoyed the silence between them.
“As you are an animal doctor, you must be fond of them. So, do you have a pet? If you don't mind, share it with me.” It was the first time in his life that Siddharth wanted to know about a person.
“Yeah, I have two actually. A white female Pomeranian, Maggie, and a male brown Shih Tzu, Oreo. They are my lifelines. All of my stress reduces when I am with them. They are the main reason for my smiles.” She answered with a sweet smile lingering on her pink lips.
His attention shifted from her eyes to her smile. A boyish grin spread on his lips as he bit his lower lip between his teeth.
“I wish to get the chance to be in the list too.” He murmured in his lowest voice.
“Huhh?”
“Nn…Nothing.” He managed to give her a fake smile.
“How many members do you have in your family?” she asked him out of courtesy.
“I live with my mom and dad. But the most special in my family is my cat, Bella. She is super cute and, you could say, the love of my life. My day is incomplete without her.” He smiled while sharing this, his eyes staring at the empty road.
Finishing their tea, they returned to his cabin to complete the leftover work.
“We will start making slides on it tomorrow. Okay?” she asked him while organizing her belongings.
“Yeah, that would be fine.” He gave his signature smile, flashing his dimples.
He watched her leaving his cabin.

Author's POV:
The moon’s shine was glowing on Noor's face as she leaned on her room's window.
Her eyes were focused on the moon, containing a void emotion in them, as if it were reciting an incomplete story.
Flashback
“The Moon is so beautiful. Isn't it?” Noor said to him, looking at the radiant full moon.
“Yess it is!” he said, looking at her glowing face.
“Look at the moon, not me.” She blushed, lowering her eyelashes and looking at her hands.
“Vaise, I know this phrase and you know na I love you!” He stared at her golden brown eyes looking so beautiful under the moonshine.
Her lips curved into a sweet lingering smile.
“I love you too.” She said, drowning in his dark eyes.
Both of them were on a bench in a park, looking at the beautiful sky.
“Udit, we will stargaze like this on our balcony too after marriage. Okay?” she asked him with her hopefully gorgeous eyes.
“Yeah, but promise me that you will spare your time for this. Is that clear?” he asked with playful authority in his voice.
“I promise, but you too have to share everything with me. Okay?” Her eyebrows wiggled at her question.
“Okay my love, but for now please let's go. It's late, you'll catch a cold.” He told her in his concerned deep voice.
“Please, stay for some time. Vaise hi hum bohot kam mil paate hai.” She tucked her hands through his arm as he was trying to get up from his place.
Sighing at her words, he shook his head and scooted her into his arms in a protective side hug. They both were stargazing in each other’s arms.
Flashback ends
Shaking her head to wash off the thoughts, she wiped a lone tear from her left cheek and shut the window before retrieving to her bed, covering herself completely with the cosy blanket.
Promises are meant to be broken. They can't guarantee us the loyalty of a person towards their statement.
Although people say that time heals everything, the scars remind us of the unforgettable past traumas imprinted on our souls.
