Author's POV:
Hyderabad city was glowing under the streetlights that evening. It was a sight that screamed composure mixed with chaos. The roads were filled with countless vehicles.
From the many cabs heading to their destinations, one was going to the Rathore villa. Yukti was inside it — on a surprise visit for her family as well as her best friend.
She was shifting to Hyderabad to join BARC at NFC. She hadn’t shared this achievement with anyone until now.
The cab reached its destination and Yukti stood facing the gates of the villa.
She would be staying with her uncle and aunt for the next few years during her posting.
She rang the bell, and a house helper opened the door.
She stepped inside and covered her aunt’s eyes from behind.
“Kon……Yukti?” Raagini guessed immediately — only Yukti had done this since childhood.
“ What a wonderful surprise, Yukti beta. Tu kab aayi aur bataya kyu nhi?” she exclaimed with joy.
Raagini loved Yukti like her own daughter. Yukti was just like a second child to her and Vikram.
“Aapko surprise dena tha isliye nhi bataya, aur ab aapke saath hi rahungi. Mera BARC me selection ho gya hai.” She was happy to finally share this news with her.
“Tere bade papa ko pta hai ye baat?”
“Haa unko to kal se pta hai, maine hi mana kiya tha unko ki aapko aur bhai ko na bataye.”
“Acha hua ki tu yaha aa gyi, teri padhai ke vakt to milna hi nhi hota tha. Ab jaake fresh ho jaa, main khaane ko kuch laati hu.” She said and went to the kitchen.

At 7:30, when Siddharth entered the house, he was surprised to see his cousin playing with Bella.
“Tu kab aayi mere ghar?”
“Tab jab aap apne hospital the.”
He walked over and engulfed her in his arms. After sharing a sweet brotherly hug, he asked her the real reason for her arrival.
“Main yaha BARC me job kr rhi hu ab se. Aapke saath hi rehna hai mujhe ab.” She said proudly.
“Aree waah, so proud of you! Matlab roz tujhe jhelna padega, he bhagwan.”
“Aisa hai, nhi rakhna to bol do. Meri ek dost bhi isi sheher me rehti hai, main vahi chali jaaungi.” she said irritably.
“Haa haa jaa, main nhi rokne wala tujhe.” He teased her even more.
“Khaana lag gya hai, aa jaao dono. Aur tu kyu pareshan kr rha hai bichari ko?” Raagini tapped his head from behind at his mischievous remark.
“I love you badi maa!” Yukti said while Sid glared at her through his amber eyes.
“Haa ab tu aa gyi hai to meri kisko yaad aayegi yaha. Sahi hai.” He teased his mother.
“Jaao aap apni doctory ki kitaabe padho, hume disturb mat karo.”
“Haa jaa rha hu.” He went to his room, half annoyed and half amused.

The next day, Yukti decided to go to Noor's place to surprise her.
She picked up her phone — the time showed 6 in the evening.
When she reached Noor’s house, Rukmani was the first to greet her.
“Are beta tu yaha, is sheher me?” She was astonished to see Yukti after so long and embraced her warmly.
“Aree, aunty lambi kahani hai. Andar nhi bulaoge kya?”
“Are nhi baccha, aa naa jaldi.” She brought her inside the house.
“Bata kya khaayegi? Kya banau tere liye?” she asked while heading to the kitchen.
“Aree aap vo sab jaane do, pehle ye batao vo dono kidhar hai.” As soon as she said that, Maggie and Oreo came running towards her.
“Tumhari maa ke baad tum dono hi to ho jinhe sbse jyada miss Kiya maine. Kaise ho dono?”
They wagged their tails in response to her question.
She ruffled both of their heads fondly

Noor's POV:
The day was quite nice today. The roads were slightly crowded as everyone was heading home after work.
It had been three years since I met my best friend. It was a strange kind of feeling — I really wanted to see her.
When I reached home and stepped inside, I saw my best friend eating samosas while watching TV in my house.
Was it real, or was I hallucinating?
But my doubt vanished when she ran over to crush me in her slim and powerless bones.
“Tu ab aa rhi hai, kab se wait kr rhi hu tera yaar.” She asked with eagerness in her voice.
“God, I am so happy to see you here. I missed you so much.” My smile reached my ears with happiness.
“Bas bas, I know how much you missed me in these three years.” She complained like a six-year-old kid who didn’t get her chocolate.
“Aaj agar main kuch aur bhi bhagwaan se maangti to vo bhi shayad mujhe mil jaata. Tere baare me hi soch rhi thi aate vakt.”
“Tujhe mere alawa kuch aur maangna tha?” She gasped dramatically, acting hurt by my statement.
“Chal drama band kr aur ye bata kitne din ke liye aayi hai.”
“Actually, I came here for a few years or more as I got the job at BARC.”
“Really, I am so proud of you. You are going to live with me right?”
“Umm, my uncle and aunt live in this city so I am staying at their place. But we can meet now since we’re in the same city.” She said, lowering her voice slightly.
“Acha koi nhi, kal shaam ko hum ghumne chalenge, main jaldi aaungi kal. Okay?” Sensing the silence, I brushed it off with a smile.
“Yeah sure but it’s already 8 PM now, I have to go. I’ll come tomorrow. Bye, love you.” She started picking up her things from the sofa.
“Byee and tomorrow, remember.” I reminded her.
“Yeah, definitely.” With that, she went from my sight.
The next day is going to be so much fun with her.
After that, I went to my room and stepped into the bathroom to wash away the tiredness of the day.
Changing into an oversized t-shirt and co
tton shorts, I started to prepare for tomorrow’s schedule.
When the clock struck 12 AM, I hit the bed and let sleep consume my mind.
